Foss Dyke Band Welcome New Musical Director

Foss Dyke Band are delighted to announce the appointment of their new Musical Director. Following in a long tradition of RAF involvement in the Lincolnshire band, Michael Howley, Principle Euphonium of the Band of The Royal Air Force College, Cranwell, is the new Musical Director of Foss Dyke Band.

It’s 7 years since Michael Howley led the Concord Brass Band of Denmark to the European Championships in Linz, Austria. Spells as MD of the Hepworth band and Wakefield Metropolitan Band followed and now, following a break from banding, to concentrate on his work with the Royal Air Force, Michael has been installed as the Musical Director of the Foss Dyke Band.

‘I’ve been waiting for the right opportunity to come along to get back into ‘banding’. I have had a few different offers, but nothing that has excited me, until now. Having worked with the Foss Dyke band over the last few weeks, I can say that I’m absolutely delighted to take on the MD position. The band is well run and players are very enthusiastic. I am very much looking forward to the challenge. Especially, the challenge of the national finals in Cheltenham.’

'The band are absolutely delighted to welcome Michael to Foss Dyke. Having had a few rehearsal with him already we can see how passionate he is about music and we are very excited to see how far the band can progress under his direction.' Foss Dyke Committee.
