New Associate Conductor at Foss Dyke!

Foss Dyke Band are delighted to welcome Ian Scott to its rank as Associate Conductor. Ian's long and distinguished banding career began at Hickleton Mains Miners Welfare Band, where he learned to play a variety of instruments. Ian ultimately specialised in the trombone and following successful stints with Yorkshire Main Colliery and City of Coventry Bands, playing under such esteemed conductors as Major Peter Parks and Major Arthur Kenny, Ian moved to New Zealand where he enjoyed considerable success as both trombonist and conductor. Ian has experienced banding in all sections from 4th to Championship. His contest tally as both a player and conductor is diverse, having enjoyed success at local, national and British open level. Ian also enjoyed considerable success in New Zealand's 'A Grade', having obtained podium positions in both local and national competitions, directing the Television New Zealand Band. Foss Dyke spokeswoman Kelly Newland said of the appointment, " We really are delighted that Ian is able to come on board. He is a wonderful conductor to play under and we will look forward to working with him. Ian will collaborate closely with our Musical Director Mike Howley, in a partnership we view as extremely positive moving forward."
